If you love your TV, then there is an accessory that is a must have- DVD Recorders.  DVD recorders are fairly new additions to the market and make recording your favorite TV show, movie or home video easy.  DVD recorders are different from Tivo in that they can record media onto DVD discs.  Once video is recorded onto a DVD disc, you can transport your favorite show and watch it anytime at another DVD player or even on your computer.  You can also watch a pre recorded DVD made from your computer on a DVD recorder.

DVD recorders were extremely expensive when they first hit the market, sometimes costing more than $1,000 each.  Today you can find DVD recorders for less than $150 which makes them extremely affordable and attractive.  Not only does a DVD recorder play your favorite show, but you can easily program it to record a show with just a few clicks of a button.  DVD Recorders usually use DVD + R or DVD – R media.  There are also a few DVD recorders that use DVD Ram which look similar to cartridges.

Most DVD recordable media hold about 4.7 GB which is roughly 2 hours of recording at high quality.  Many DVD Recorders allow you to record at lower quality setting for 4 hours, 6 hours and even up to 8 hours.  DVD Recorders also come in progressive scan so they work very well with your HDTV.  There are some DVD Recorders that even include a VCR and can record directly from the cassette onto the DVD media; you can also hook up some DVD recorders to your digital video camera to record home videos.  So if you have a great TV and would like to get more use out of it, check out DVD recorders.
