Satellite radio is one of the hottest technologies on the market today.  Many people are turning their regular radios off and turning to satellite radio. Satellite radio is compared to cable television offering consumers more choices.  If you are interested in great music, sports and talk programming, here are some tips on satellite radio.

Satellite radio has been around for a few years, but has become popular very recently.  Today there are two major satellite radio companies; XM and Sirius radio and they both offer comparable programming at about $13 per month.  In order to receive satellite programming you need to buy a satellite radio receiver and subscribe to the service.

Satellite radios range in price and function from about $30 for a basic satellite receiver that hooks into your car or home radio or up to $500 for a home receiver that includes all the bells and whistles. In between there are products such as boom boxes, that are great for the beach or a back yard party to small IPOD like devices that are very portable and can record satellite radio programming and play at your convenience.

Most people love satellite radio because most of the programming is commercial free and there are many genres of music available. Many people that like to listen to music without excessive commercials or boring DJ’s find satellite radio the perfect product.  There are also great sports programming such as baseball games, football games and popular talk show personalities.  If you are looking to take your radio experience further, check out satellite radio.
