TV Warranties
TV warranties are an important purchase for most TV consumers. While most tech savvy consumers say no to extended warranties on radios, mp3 players and other types of electronics, when it comes to new large screen TV’s, the answer is usually yes. Here are some tips on TV warranties.
There are two types of TV warranties; extended TV warranties usually provided by the company selling the TV set such as Best Buy or Circuit City and the manufacturers warranty provided by the maker of the TV set.
Most manufacturer warranties cover the product from defect from about 90 days to a year. If you are buying a high priced TV set, you might want to spend a few hundred dollars more in order to be covered for a longer period of time.
Most extended TV warranties are usually the same coverage as the manufacturers TV warranty except for a longer period of time, usually from 1 year to 5 years. Extended warranties usually cost from $200 to $600 for most upper tier TV sets. Make sure you read the fine print and understand what the extended TV warranty covers. Many extended TV warranty includes parts, labor and service at the site, especially if the TV is very large and difficult to transport.
Make sure when you considering a TV warranty to think carefully whether the price of the warranty is worth the protection. This decision takes a little bit of time and research. If you are planning on buying a new TV set, make sure to consider TV warranties.
